In celebration of McLaren and the Gulf Oil brand’s renewed relationship, the luxury supercar maker has unveiled one spectacular car, the McLaren Elva Gulf Theme by MSO. Sporting the famous Gulf colors unveiled at Goodwood Motor Circuit, UK, McLaren Automotive premiered an ultra-exclusive supercar to evoke the true spirit of motoring enthusiasm. Available on commission from McLaren Special Operations (MSO), the in-house bespoke division of McLaren Automotive will soon be pumping out these spectacular Gulf-liveried supercars.

Flying past with the traditional blue and orange Gulf colors, this rather unique McLaren roadster made its unorthodox debut behind-closed-doors at Goodwood SpeedWeek. Broadcast live to the world, McLaren brought together the past, present and future of motoring and motorsport for the grand virtual unveiling. With both company’s history tracing back to the 1960s, the decade when McLaren and Gulf made their first foray into motorsports, the recently rekindled relationship ignites new flames. Much like when Gulf branding appeared on McLaren’s Can-Am, Formula 1 and Indy cars from 1968 to 1973, this epic duo is back. Speaking on the revived relationship, Ansar Ali, Managing Director of MSO described the McLaren Elva Gulf Theme as “a striking celebration of both McLaren’s history in sports car racing and our new partnership with Gulf Oil.”

“McLaren Special Operations is committed to pushing the boundaries of the ‘art of the possible’ and projects like this showcase the increasingly extensive range of personalisation options we can offer customers – in this case, enhancing the authenticity of the livery by incorporating Gulf brand logos into the design.” Inspired by the famous racing livery designed and produced by MSO, the Gulf Theme was most recently seen covering the Senna GTR LM that paid homage to McLaren F1’s domination of 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Elva follows on from three of McLaren’s most iconic supercars. The McLaren P1TM, McLaren Senna and Speedtail in McLaren’s Ultimate Series. With several links to all things McLaren, heritage is literally bursting out of its chassis. Complete with super-lightweight engineering, the new Ultimate Series roadster uses cutting edge automotive technology to retain its lightweight construction philosophy passed on by the McLaren forebearers. Harkening back to an era symbolized by the purpose and racing style of Bruce McLaren, the body design of the screenless, roofless Elva calls out to the 1960s when his first sportscars took to the tarmac. Featuring an innovative Active Air Management System that creates a virtual canopy in the cockpit, while it may look old-school, the Elva has a few modern tricks up her sleeve.

Powered by a 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 engine developed by 815PS and 800Nm, the Elva delivers astonishing performance and a level of driving enjoyment, unlike anything you’ve experienced before. With a limited run of only 149 custom orders, this will be one of the rarest McLarens ever produced. If you have the cash, and the need for speed (and spending), then embrace the almost-limitless degree of personalization available from MSO. Create your own unique identity for your brand new McLaren Elva Gulf Theme Supercar.
